Uizard Archives - Pix2code: Code from a UI screen grab

An important part of Uizard's history, Pix2code is where it all started. Although today's iteration of the Uizard app no longer focuses on the same functionality, the ethos of Pix2code still lives on in the AI design features Uizard has to this day, such as Uizard's screenshot to mockup feature.

Inspired by Pix2code, you can now import screenshots into Uizard and transform them into editable mockups. Find out more about the feature on our AI-powered Design Assistant page right now or read on to find out a bit more about where it all began for Uizard.

Transforming a graphical user interface screenshot created by a designer into computer code is a typical task conducted by a developer in order to build customized software and design mobile apps and websites. In this paper, we show that Deep Learning techniques can be leveraged to automatically generate code given a graphical user interface screenshot as input.

Our model is able to generate code targeting three different platforms (i.e. iOS, Android and web-based technologies) from a single input image with over 77% of accuracy.
